My Childhood Passions – in Action!

Sep 11th, 2015No Comments

I just had to stop and take a moment to reflect on the fun I had yesterday at Habersham House, entertaining the residents.  This group is especially fond of the “sing along” aspect of the shows!  I crave seeing their interaction, thrive on getting their reactions, hearing their voices, and watching their tapping toes!

My BIG ‘take away moment‘, yesterday, was when I was “chair dancing” with a lovely wheelchair bound lady, who sat in the very front row!! During the instrumental section of “Tennessee Waltz”, when I took her hand to ‘dance’ with her, she physically guided my hand to the tempo — and when the lyrics started back she sang along with me and finished the ‘dance’ by bringing my hand and arm back UP to the sky and down for the finish! I thanked her personally on the mic, and the audience applauded her gratefully!

Don’t underestimate the power of music!!!

I am so often aware that, for the most part, our musical moments together will be forgotten by supper time, and by the time we meet again some may only have a slight recall of ‘who I am and what I do’ – however, I will remember each of the souls I interact with, and will carry your ‘light’ in my heart!

This is why I do what I do.   Thanks for the love!!  Y’all keep me grounded!

I am blessed and happy to share my childhood passions of singing, playing ‘dress up’, and ‘play acting’ (i.e. puppets and character voices).

Gratefully yours,

debi
